First Nation

Namaygoosisagagun First Nation is a small remote access Anishinabek community located in Northwestern Ontario within the Robinson Superior Treaty of 1850. Namaygoosisagagun has been in existence since time immemorial and we continue to be a thriving healthy community in the north.
Access to Namaygoosisagagun is limited to train, portage trails and snow machine in the winter. With limited access comes challeneges, but it also makes for a strong resilient community.
We have no stores within the community, so many of our people still rely on the land for sustenance therefore protection of our traditional lands is one of our main priorities within the community.

Namaygoosisagagun has been in existence since time immemorial, and we continue to be a thriving healthy community in the north. We organize many cultural events for our members in Collins and in Thunder Bay. Activities include sewing, mitt making, community feats at Christmas and other important dates, as well as our annual Community Gathering in Collins.
We also preserve our culture and our language through many land-based activities within our Traditional Land Use Area including hunting, fishing, net setting, and snaring. Many of our people still rely on the land for sustenance, so protection of our traditional lands is one of our main priorities.
